Multifaceted Savior

This is a very good book. It focuses on Jesus Christ and the fullness in Him. It reminds me of what Paul prayed in Colossians: “…. to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Col. 2:2-3). Jesus Christ is to us wisdom, knowledge, righteousness, justification, sanctification, glorification and many more. To know Him is to find purpose and meaning. To know Him is to find life itself. In Him dwells the fullness of God in bodily form. Jesus Christ is the God-man. Jesus Christ is God incarnate. Immanuel, God with us. Because Jesus is then the fullness of God and life itself, we must earnestly desire and seek Him.

The Bible has one Question to answer: Who is Jesus Christ? To answer this question, the Word of God describes Jesus from various angles to paint a complete picture for us about Him so that we can come to know Him fully. By knowing Him we find life and purpose.

Jesus Christ is not the idea of a man, but the triune God Himself. We see Jesus in the Old Testament and in the New Testament. There is continuity between the revelation of God’s redemptive plan right through Scripture. What is revealed about Jesus in the New Testament is not separate from the redemptive plan about Him in the Old Testament. What we have in the New Testament is built on the plan of God which was announced right in the beginning shortly after Adam and Eve sinned. In fact the Bible declares that Jesus is God’s plan from eternity past when He chose every person He wants to save and Jesus was foreordained to be the Savior of God’s elect people.

This book tries to give a picture of the mystery of Christ. In this book, Jesus is painted from different angles as portrayed in Scripture. This book contains a few sketches from different angles about Jesus as a multifaceted Savior.
