God love our children and is faithful to those who fear Him

Psa 103:17-18  But the steadfast love of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children,  (18)  to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.

God is faithful and true to those who love and fear him. His righteousness is to our children and children’s children. This means to me that God is faithful to families who fear and love Him. Our children are not strangers in the world outside of God’s sight. They are under the umbrella of God’s covenant and plan. He view the children of those who love and fear Him as part of of His blessing to them. There is a mystery here. Although this is true, it also happens that children of believing parents are not born again. This is the mystery of God’s election which we will not fully understand. Reading the text, I immediately saw that God look differently to children of believers who fear and love Him. They are deliberately named as beneficiaries of those who fear and love Him. It is not that they are saved by their parents faith, but that they share in God’s eternal faithfulness.

God is faithful to those who keep His covenant made to Abraham and confirmed by the eternal offer on the cross of His son Jesus Christ. It is an everlasting covenant sealed with the blood of His son Jesus Christ. Through faith we are part of it.

  1. Psalm 78:3-8

“Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments: And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.”
